GLEN ROVEN
Four time Emmy Winner, Glen Roven, made his Carnegie Hall debut last year conducting his Violin Concerto, based on the best selling children's book, THE RUNAWAY BUNNY, with Glenn Close narrating and the American Symphony Orchestra. He recorded the piece with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Brooke Shields narrating which is available Sony/BMY. Next season, also at Carnegie Hall, Baritone Mark Stone will sing an entire concert of Roven's music. Also scheduled projects for the 2009/2010 season include a PBS Concert with the Buffalo Symphony performing RUNAWAY BUNNY and his Concert Aria based on GOODNIGHT MOON, a concert with the Brooklyn Symphony performing his adaptation of Mozart's THE MARRIAGE OF FIGARO, a new production of PETER PAN in LA (starring all movie and TV icons over 75!), the Emmanuel Cantatas, twelve original cantatas written for and commission by Chicago's Emmanuel Congregation, another production of NORMAN'S ARK in St. Louis, a national tour for the one-woman show he wrote for TV legend, Florence Henderson, a production of his translation of Mozart's DON GIOVANNI for the San Diego Lyric Opera (2012) and the premiere of his Broadway musical, DR. SEUSS'S THE 5000 FINGERS OF DOCTOR T. There will also be a free concert in Central Park on Mother's Day 2010 given by the ISO of BUNNY and MOON. He has conducted the National Symphony, the Seattle Symphony, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, The Munich Philharmonic, The Radio Luxembourg Orchestra, as well as many others, and made his Israeli conducting debut in 2001 conducting the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in two sold-out concerts honoring Leonard Bernstein. He has conducted for Renee Fleming, Placido Domingo, Jessye Norman and Kathleen Battle and was chosen to conduct four Presidential Inaugural Concerts, as well as America's Millennium Celebration, produced by Steven Spielberg. In addition to appearing hundreds of times on television, he has written songs for, conducted and produced for Julie Andrews, Aretha Franklin, Kenny G., Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Quincy Jones, Kermit the Frog, Patti LaBelle, Liza Minnelli, Diana Ross, and many others. He conducted Frank Sinatra's last concert on television and Sammy Davis's final television appearance. He began his Broadway career as a rehearsal pianist for PIPPIN while still in high school, and at nineteen was the musical director of SUGAR BABIES. He is also a contributing author to GAMES WE PLAYED, a collection of essays published by Simon and Schuster, as well as the CITY SECRETS GUIDE to LONDON and NEW YORK. For children, he wrote and produced Sharon, Lois and Bram's Holiday album, CANDLES, SNOW and MISTLETOE and the theme song to THE BABYSITTER'S CLUB.

Glen Roven, four-time Emmy winner, is one of the rare musicians equally at home in both Classical and Popular music.

Last year he made his Carnegie Hall debut conducting his Violin Concerto based on the children's classic, THE RUNAWAY BUNNY, narrated by Glenn Close and performed by the American Symphony Orchestra. The piece has been recorded by SONY/BMG with the Royal Philharmonic and Brooke Shields narrating. His musical, NORMAN'S ARK, written with Jerome Kass opened the 2008 LA MUSICAL FESTIVAL at the Ford's Amphitheater, directed by Peter Schneider.
One of his proudest achievements was conducting and arranging Bill Clinton's first inauguration. Produced by Quincy Jones; it was performed for a live audience of over 850,000. Again for Mr. Jones, he conducted A CONCERT FOR THE AMERICAS the concert for all the Presidents of the Americas in Miami and QUINCY JONES: The First 50 Years on ABC. He also conducted the last two Bush Inaugurations, making him the only creative person to work on all four of the last five Presidential Inaugurations.

He wrote the songs for the animated Fox Christmas Special, SANTA, BABY starring Patti LaBelle, Gregory Hines and Vanessa Williams as well as producing the Platinum Album. This year, he received his 12th Emmy Nomination for OUTSTANDING SONG OF THE YEAR. For the Millennium, he was asked to conduct and arrange for Quincy Jones and Steven Speilberg their Gala Millennium concert in Washington on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial for CBS.
He began his Broadway career as a rehearsal pianist for PIPPIN when he was in High School. While attending Columbia University, he worked in various capacities on the New York productions of VERY GOOD EDDIE, THE MADWOMAN OF CPW, JOSEPH AND THE..., REALLY ROSIE, A PARTY WITH COMDEN AND GREEN, SHE LOVES ME (TOWN HALL), WOMAN OF THE YEAR (NATIONAL TOUR) and, at nineteen was the musical director of SUGAR BABIES for its entire run, becoming the youngest conductor ever on Broadway. He arranged Patti LuPone?s one woman Broadway show and was the co-Musical Supervisor for Liza Minnelli's record-breaking engagement, STEPPIN' OUT, at Radio City. He was a contributing composer for the Off-Broadway hit, A...MY NAME IS ALICE, and wrote the scores for John Guare's LYDIE BREEZE, directed by Louis Malle, and GARDENIA, directed by Karel Reisz. He also composed the scores for Larry Gelbart's MASTERGATE and Christopher Isherwood's A
MEETING BY THE RIVER, on Broadway, and Radio City's GOT TO GET AWAY.
He made his European conducting debut with the Luxembourg Symphony in 1980 conducting for Sherril Milnes and Rene Kollo, and arranged, for Jerome Robbins, Big Stuff, for the NYC Ballet production of FANCY FREE. He has written, conducted and produced for Julie Andrews, Jason Alexander, Anita Baker, Kathleen Battle, Michael Bolton, Bono, Brooks and Dunn, Tevin Campbell, Ray Charles, Charlotte Church, Natalie Cole, Placido Domingo, Ella Fitzgerald, Renee Flemming, Aretha Franklin, Kenny G., Denyce Graves, Goldie Hawn, Scott Hamilton, Gregory Hines, Bob Hope, Hootie and the Blowfish, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Jane Krakowski, Kermit the Frog, Patti LaBelle, Brian McKnight, Liza Minnelli, Patti LuPone, Bernadette Peters, Chita Rivera, Diana Ross, Lily Tomlin, Shirley MacLaine, Luther Vandross, Nancy Wilson, Stevie Wonder and Trisha Yearwood. He made his acting debut in James L. Brooks's BROADCAST NEWS, playing, naturally, a composer.
For children, he wrote and produced Sharon, Lois and Bram's Holiday album, CANDLES, SNOW and MISTLETOE. It inspired a television movie and a Broadway Musical which played the Palace. He also writes the songs and score for the HBO series THE BABYSITTER'S CLUB, based on the popular Children's book.
His first musical, HEART?S DESIRE, co-written with Armistead Maupin and directed by Jack Hofsiss had its premier at the Cleveland Playhouse and was subsequently given a gala performance at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London, directed by Simon Callow.
He is a contributing author to GAMES WE PLAYED, a new collection of essays recently published by Simon and Schuster as well as the CITY SECRETS GUIDE to LONDON and NEW YORK.
He conceived and performed in the critically acclaimed SINGULAR SENSATIONS, Off Broadway where he interviewed and accompanied such legendary stars as Carol Channing.
He was the Executive Producer of the Mountain Laurel Center for the Performing Arts and is a board member of The Ilona Feher Foundation, an organization sponsoring and nurturing young Israeli violinists.
